DIMBOA, an antibiotic, is part of the chemical defense system of grasses such as corn, wheat and rye. DIMBOA has growth inhibitory properties against many studied bacterial and fungal strains, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
